H2O - Ralph Steiner (1929). ASMR soundtrack: Ortiz Morales

H2O, from 1929, is one of the first short films by photographer Ralph Steiner. It is a cinemapoem, in the manner of Man Ray, which artistically reflects a visual study on water, the ethereal forms it adopts, its reflections and the evanescent beauty of the movements of the liquid.

During the first part it offers us running water, the jets, the fountains, the rain; in short, the agitation of waters in various movements. The second part, on the other hand, offers us the reflected forms and mobile undulations that appear in the water when it is agitated by the wind, by eddies or small waves, creating fascinating abstract forms.

In 2005, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant", H2O was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.
